Understanding Public and Private Events

Here, we will explain the difference between public and private events and guide you on how to make your event private if you choose to do so.

What is a Public Event?

A public event is visible and accessible to anyone using our website. These events are:

  • Searchable: They can be found through our search functionality.
  • Discoverable: They may appear in various sections of our site, such as event listings, recommendations, and featured events.

Public events are ideal if you want to reach a broad audience and increase participation.

What is a Private Event?

A private event is restricted in visibility and access. These events:

  • Not Searchable: They do not appear in search results.
  • Hidden Listings: They are not shown in any public listings, recommendations, or featured sections on our website.

The only way for someone to access a private event is by having a direct link. This means you have complete control over who can join, as only those you share the link with can participate.

How to Make Your Event Private

When creating your event, you can easily set it as private. Here's how:

  1. Find the Privacy Option: On the event creation page, after entering the event date, time, and duration, look for the field labeled "Is this a private event?"
  2. Set the Event to Private: By default, the option is set to "No", which makes the event public. To make your event private, change the option to "Private" This will ensure your event remains hidden from the public and is accessible only to those with a direct link.
  3. Share the Link: After setting your event to private, you will receive a unique link. Share this link with the people you want to invite.

By following these steps, you can control the privacy of your events and ensure that only invited guests can join.

Summary

  • Public Events: Visible to all, searchable, and listed on the website.
  • Private Events: Not searchable, hidden from listings, and accessible only via a direct link.

We hope this clarifies the differences between public and private events and helps you choose the right option for your needs. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our support team.
